You’ve put your heart and soul into launching a damn good idea. And you’re damn good at what you do, like expert-level good.

And if you want to stay in business, you need the right people, in the right numbers, buying from you.

The only problem is how do you stand out in a crowded, noisy, saturated market and actually get more clients, be seen as the expert you are, and make more money?

It’s time you learned the secrets experts know.

Using your personality, opinions, and beliefs are the key to REAL. LASTING. MEDIA attention for your business.

Think more money. Think more customers. Think Like a Publicist.

Are you feeling…

 • Discouraged because you just don’t know how to get noticed in this crowded online space?
 • Overwhelmed about what you really need to do to stand out and have people pay for your expertise?
 • Frustrated when you see your colleague has a shitload of press features and you can’t figure out how to land just one?
 • Pissed because someone who just started out in your industry has blown up with media, and you’ve been doing this longer and if you’re being honest, you’re way better at it?
 • Lost because you have no desire to fork over your hard earned cash to a PR peep who may have no idea what they’re doing?
 • Devastated because you’ve spent money — to the tune of tens of thousands with a PR firm — only to walk away disappointed, OK, stark raving mad — and possibly broke?
 • Discouraged due to not having time to execute your own PR strategy, but you want to be armed with enough information so you can hire the best people possible?

You don’t have to play the who-you- know-game to be featured in your dream publication, but you do have to understand how to Think Like a Publicist.

You can be the best in the biz, but that won’t make the media your BFF. You have to know how to get on their radar and that’s exactly why I created Think Like a Publicist, to take you from missing out on the publicity your business deserves to being the ONE everyone is seeing.

Think Like a Publicist is an experience — not a class, not a course or just theory on how to get featured by the media.

Over the eight weeks we spend together, you will have a weekly LIVE PR lesson with homework that is PROVEN to get your business more publicity. This is NOT a DIY course. This is several weeks of hands-on, live learning with everything you need to know to go out and get real, legit media attention with incentives to actually complete this course so that you end up in the magazine/podcast/blog/show from your bucket list.

Imagine…

 • Your ideal client reading about you in the savviest of business publications, and there you are with the solution they’ve been craving.
 • Knowing what to do when it comes to snagging a coveted opportunity.
 • Knowing how to send the right pitch to reporters so it doesn’t end up in their trash folder.
 • Knowing how to leverage your awards, speaking gigs, books and press features to get even MORE publicity.
 • Learning what other kind of visibility exists outside the media that can get your MORE clients.

I created Think Like a Publicist because business owners were coming to me after spending anywhere from $20,000 – $100,000 with PR firms, only to walk away with almost zero visibility.

They were devastated and had lost faith in the industry, but as savvy entrepreneurs they knew publicity was crucial to their business. So I taught them how to do it themselves.

And now my passion is showing you how to create that same level of success.

Think Like a Publicist kicks off September 25.

A preview of all the goodness you’ll be learning:

Lesson 1: Your PR Why

In order to get the right kind of visibility, you need to know why you need it. In this lesson we will cover the different goals that can be achieved with PR and how to determine yours.

Lesson 2: Get PR Ready

The number one reason I created this course was because I was turning down business every week. Why? The people coming to me weren’t ready for PR. They had website issues, product issues, sales issues, which means no matter how I tried to spin it, the media wouldn’t be interested. In this lesson we go over the ducks you need to get in a row to look attractive to the press.

Lesson 3: Know Your Story

I hate to break it to you, but the media doesn’t care that you opened a biz. They care about one thing: stories. The media writes stories, so you better have one. In this lesson we go over the different kinds of stories, how to find yours even if you think you don’t have one.

Lesson 4: Know the Media

I may know a fuckload about PR, but I figured you would want to hear some of it from the horse’s mouth. That’s why this lesson—my favorite one—is filled with advice from media peeps who have won Emmys and worked for THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, THE DAILY MAIL, THE DAILY TELEGRAPH, ENTREPRENEUR MAGAZINE, FORTUNE MAGAZINE, MONEY MAGAZINE, SMART MONEY MAGAZINE, U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT, INSTYLE MAGAZINE, GLAMOUR, MODERN BRIDE, RED and O, THE OPRAH MAGAZINE.

Lesson 5: The Art of the Pitch

If you aren’t getting media coverage, it’s probably your pitch. Bitches like brevity, and no one’s getting the message. In this lesson we cover the rules for pitching and how to craft your own. You will also talk to an editor with 15 years experience (during a live call), so you can hear what gets his attention and ends up being published. In fact, it’s common for people to use the pitches they create to immediately get featured.

Lesson 6: Find the Media

So you’ve got your pitch all perfect and ready to go, but you have no idea how to get the journalist’s contact information. No worries. In this lesson, I show you how to find anyone’s email address you could ever want without paying for one of those “media lists.”

Lesson 7: Press-Free PR

Guess what? It ain’t all about the press. You don’t need them for everything. In this lesson we’ll learn alternative ways to get the coverage we need for our biz, so other people besides our family know who we are.

Lesson 8: Networking

Calm down. I’m not suggesting you go to those rubber chicken dinners, unless that’s your thing. But there are other ways to network to gain visibility and that’s what we cover in this lesson.

Once you get this down, you’ll never feel helpless again when it comes to standing out.

“I am so glad I took Ramona’s eight-week course.

I was hesitant at first because as great as the course description sounded, I was not sure whether PR would apply to my field, so I reached out to Ramona before signing up with questions and she really put my mind at ease.

The eight weeks were jam-packed with goodies about PR from someone who really understands this field from the inside out. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the weekly lessons and homework. Each is structured in such a way that you get a ton of info and can put what you learned to use right away. Ramona is very responsive to questions and gives great feedback on homework assignments, and there is also the added fun of winning prizes if you do great work. As a writer, I feel much more confident now with finding the right media and composing pitches.

What really helped me was understanding how to pitch the right way and receiving feedback on the pitches I wrote. As a result, I pitched successfully to MindBodyGreen shortly after our course ended and heard back from the editor two days later. One of my articles will be published and I am now working on pitching to other media sources.

I highly recommend this course to those who are committed to expanding their businesses through publicity and media coverage.”

“Ramona has been awesome to work with! She taught what the media is really looking for and also what they definitely don’t care about.

This was especially effective for me as a new life coach because understanding what the big picture goals are (for me, getting noticed and finding my ideal clients) helped me get my messaging really clear. Ramona gives some really practical tools and ideas to help you in that process.

She’s also hilarious and fun to work with – she’s real! She tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. And I walked away feeling even more confident in my story than I ever had before.”

“I enrolled in this program for two reasons…

First, because I adore Ramona and know she’s the best at what she does. Second, because I wanted to learn more about how I can up my publicity game and gain wisdom on how I can leverage my own PR.

I was so blown away by the amount of detailed tips, secrets and strategies that you just never learn unless you are a publicist. I learned how to make use of social media to gain amazing PR, and how to get your name and your content fabulous exposure online.

What I also loved about the course was Ramona’s fabulous spin on publicity and her beautiful sense of humor! She made me laugh while I was learning on each call! She has a unique gift to teach and entertain at the same time. I absolutely loved the course!”

author of Beautiful Money

“I signed up for Think Like a Publicist for a couple reasons – I secretly want to be Ramona “when I grow up” and any excuse to be around her gets me one step closer to that goal.

But on the real, I signed up because I was in the middle of a career shift from working for a large company to starting my own business, and figuring out the PR piece of my business plan was a major hurdle to successfully making my shift.

All of the lessons were excellently organized to take someone through the complete PR process. The way Ramona was able to take something that seemed like such a gargantuan task (successfully developing and implementing a PR strategy) and simplify it into something anyone can understand and make it sound fun is amazing to me. One of the most valuable things I learned was ‘how to pitch’ to the media. We all think we know how to do it, but being able to hear first-hand from the expert media representative Ramona brought in put it into perspective and gave me valuable insight.

One of my favorite benefits was being a part of the course Facebook group. It was a wonderful place to interact with and learn from other professionals who were working through some of the same issues I was. It was like a support group where no one judged you for wearing your pajamas and drinking wine. The other thing I loved about the course was the phone calls. I loved Ramona’s no-nonsense way of delivering information while simultaneously maintaining her level of approachability.

In conclusion, taking this course was the best thing I did for my career in the past year. I feel rejuvenated and excited again about PR. I highly recommend this course for anyone thinking about hiring a PR firm or having questions about PR, do this first, you won’t regret it. And let’s be real, who doesn’t need a little Ramona in their life?”

Creative

“As an online entrepreneur who has been at it for quite some time, I decided this year I wanted to learn all about public relations with the goal of getting published in 2016.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ramona in 2013 and I knew she was my go-to-girl. And just like that, she creates this amazing program, Think Like a Publicist…yes please!

I was all in and I am very pleased with my experience. The content is top notch. Ramona provides a plethora of information on how to go about finding your perfect media platform to how to create a compelling pitch to ensure you get published. On top of all that Ramona was extremely accessible—this is not one of those laptop video coaching courses, you actually get a live coach. She was consistent, available, and creative… and the girl is flipping funny! She made it a fun competition by adding prizes to our weekly assignments; this increased the motivation to get stuff done within the group. And the prizes were adorable, even my Yellow Labs benefited.

Bottom line is this: in a world full of technology that separates us from that human-to-human contact, Ramona went old-school and connected personally with each individual in the group. She delivered amazing content and I learned a ton about PR. I feel more confident about my pitch, and I believe getting published is way more possible than I once thought. Thank you Ramona, you’re the best!”

“Ramona is the best! I singed up for her course to get an inside scoop about PR, and I got that and so much more! I had met Ramona a few years ago and her honest and authentic personality really made me connect to her, so when she offered this course I knew I had to join.

This course was full of great information and Ramona was always assessable to help with any questions. Every week we had homework and Ramona would give us feedback and took the time to make sure our media pitches were perfect. She really cared about helping us build our businesses through PR, and made learning fun by giving us prizes. And it didn’t hurt that her laugh is infectious and always made me laugh too!!”

“As a solopreneur, I have to know a little about a lot. Mastering PR left me anxious and a little terrified – one wrong move could spell disaster. With a limited marketing budget, I knew hiring an expert was not an option. Think Like a Publicist provided an amazing framework for me to get started on being my own publicist. The course is smartly organized and each lesson builds on the last, giving a sensible and thoughtful roadmap to help shine a light on my floral design studio.

Ramona fills each lesson with great examples and makes herself available to help with critical thinking. At the end of the course I realized I had this and now have the confidence to put my story and my business out there.”

“Think Like a Publicist opened my eyes to reality. Working in corporate America for over a decade, I was used to using templates for everything. Don’t you want to save as much time as possible? So what’s wrong with creating a one size fits all pitch?

Well was I totally wrong… Ramona taught me to become human again. That the press is human. When pitching of course your intention is me, me, me. Yet, we need to stop being lazy and do our research. Know your PR why. Know why your doing this in the first place. What’s your goal? Then research the press that targets your audience. Know their deadlines and be respectful. This alone was eye-opening. Thank you, Ramona, for creating this.”

Ramona Russell

Hey, I’m Ramona Russell, the OCD, type-A, fur baby mama with over 15+ years award-winning experience in public relations, marketing and sales. I’ve been featured in over 100 news outlets such as BUSINESSWEEK, LUCKY MAGAZINE, IDEA FITNESS JOURNAL and FOXNEWS. And I was also a panelist for a Microsoft business event.

I’ve booked national press engagements for clients and avoided over thousands in PR retainers when I launched my own company. My customers come from every industry imaginable, and by getting them featured by the media, some increased their revenue in under 10 days, and others became bloggers for such publications as THE HUFFINGTON POST.

FAQs:

1. What if I’m too new in business?

If you have an email address, website and product/service for sale, you’re not too new. I will show you how to position yourself to attract the media and start establishing yourself as an expert.

2. What’s the difference between this program and your Stories that Sell session?

In my Stories that Sell session, I work with the client one-on-one during a 90-minute phone call. We work together to find their unique story so they can better market themselves and attract their ideal client. We do not go over the ins and outs of PR.

3. What if I’m enrolled in another business, marketing, social media program?

There are so many great programs out there, but most don’t cover PR step-by-step. Getting featured by the media requires so much more than knowing how to write a pitch. You have to know your story, do your research, know how to treat the press and the best way to follow-up and leverage your accomplishments.

4. I feel like I’ve taken a shitload of courses only to not implement most of what I’ve learned.

I so hear you. I’ve done the same. For me, the common thread was that there wasn’t any live feedback from the creator of the program. So there weren’t deadlines and there was zero incentive to finish the lessons. This is completely different. I answer every question and give feedback on every homework assignment. And there are awesome prizes to get you to finish your homework on time.

5. How much one-on-one attention do I get?

A lot for an online course. I answer all questions during our live calls and give feedback on all assignments in the Facebook group. And you will have the support of the other members as well.

6. How do the group calls work?

Once a week we will have a live call where I will go over that particular lesson and take all of your questions. You will call in to a conference line and the call will be recorded if you can’t make it. You can also email me ahead of time with your question and I will answer it during the call.

7. I can’t make any of the live calls, should I still sign up?

Yes! All the calls are recorded and sent out immediately. You will still have all the materials, access to the private Facebook group with my feedback and networking with the entire group.

8. How much time per week does this course require?

Anywhere from 2-4 hours a week.

9. Do you offer refunds?

I know it’s scary to put down a chunk of change, even for something as important as your biz. So if after one week of listening to the calls and doing the work, you’re unhappy with your purchase, I will issue a full refund.
